Company History

Stita is a third-generation family business. Based in Cheltenham in England, we are the longest-established agricultural tour operator in Europe.It was in Friesland, towards the end of World War II, where seeing the native cattle inspired James Taylor to set up a dedicated travel service for the UK farming community. A skilled and enthusiastic team formed around this pioneering venture, led by James Taylor and his wife Ena Taylor.

The first tour was in 1949, a trip to the Spring Bull Show in Leeuwarden. Not long after that, in March 1951, we ran our first tour to the Paris Agricultural Show, a trip which has been successfully repeated many times down the years.

The tour to Canada and the USA in 1959, a marathon voyage by sea lasting almost a month, was our first long-haul departure. Tours to the USSR, Australia/New Zealand and China, are just some of the highlights of the succeeding decades. Much has happened in the intervening years; under the stewardship of MD Julian Taylor, and his wife Dianne, the company grew considerably. Today Stita is a name familiar to many in the agricultural industry throughout the world.

The company remains in family ownership and is now managed by Julian's two sons Jonathan and Justin.We are proud of our unrivalled reputation for excellence and professionalism. Over fifty years in the business, we have planned and organized agricultural tours for many thousands of groups around the world. In addition we have worked in co-operation with many large agricultural organizations and companies.

What are Farm Tours?

A "farm tour" covers a whole range of agriculturally related travel. This can vary from an in depth study tour concentrating on a single aspect of farming to more varied programmes which feature a whole range of agricultural activities including some conventional sightseeing as well. Of course, there is a large spectrum in between depending on your requirements, and we have the expertise, experience and linguistic skill to deal with any request.In the main we deal with farmers or people who have some connection with the agricultural industry, for example, agricultural machinery manufacturers, animal feed companies, fertiliser companies etc.

Another growing market however is people who do not necessarily have a direct connection with farming but who are interested in the countryside and who want to see a side to a country they would not normally experience on a regular tour.
