Flight departure this morning from London Heathrow to Zagreb. On arrival meet with a local guide and transfer to the city for a short sightseeing tour. A fascinating destination in its own right, with elements of both Eastern & Western Europe, Zagreb is a dynamic city but it manages to retain much of its old-world charm in the shape of its Austro-Hungarian buildings in the centre, its elegant restaurants and fashionable boutiques. Dinner will be included in the hotel tonight. Overnight: ZAGREB (D)
Friday 21st May This morning there will be further opportunities for sightseeing in Zagreb before departing for the area of Plitvice National Park. En route a farm will be visited in the area of Karlovac. Fruit-growing and viticulture are important forms of production in western Croatia, and a typical enterprise will be visited. Lunch will be included locally. The Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia's most popular tourist attraction, was granted UNESCO world heritage status in 1979. Located roughly halfway between the capital city of Zagreb and Zadar on the coast, this beautiful national park has sixteen lakes, connected by a series of waterfalls, and is set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. The national park covers a total area of 300 square kilometres, whilst the lakes join together over a distance of eight kilometres. Overnight: PLITVICE (B,L)
Saturday 22nd May After breakfast depart for a tour of Plitvice Lakes National Park, with opportunities to walk, take photos etc. In the afternoon, we will visit a local dairy farm.

Sunday 23rd May After breakfast, depart Plitvice and travel to the coastal resort of Opatija. On arrrival, there will be time to rest and relax at leisure. Backed by the greenery of the slopes of the Učka mountain, Opatija enjoys a pleasant and healthy climate, and also boasts numerous fine restaurants and coffee bars, in addition to a popular 10 km-long promenade by the sea ('Lugamare'). The Opatija Riviera is also noted for its fine historic architecture to be seen in the many striking buildings, balconies and facades.

Monday 24th May Depart this morning from Opatija. Our journey continues this morning into Slovenia. One of the most westernized and liberal of Yugoslavia's former republics, Slovenia and its population of two million were relatively unscathed by the events of the Balkan conflict and were accepted into the European Union in 2004. It is a country full of colourful history and spectacular natural attractions. Proceed to Lipica for a visit to the Lipica Stud Farm: home of the world-famous Lippizaner Horses. In 2005, the Lipica Stud Farm celebrated 425 years of illustrious history (1580 - 2005). For most of that time this elegant and well-managed estate has been the private property of noble families. Today, all visitors have the chance to stroll the well-tended grounds, and visit the spotless stables and paddocks. Lunch will be included locally. Later this afternoon, continue to the city of Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital.

Tuesday 25th May Depart after breakfast for a full day's excursion around Lake Bled. With its immense natural beauty, Bled, together with its surroundings, ranks among the most beautiful alpine resorts, renowned for its mild, healing climate and thermal lake water. The beauty of the mountains reflected on the lake, the sun, serenity and the fresh air make it an appealing location all year-round, and an excellent place to visit. In the morning, there will be a boat trip and visit to Bled Castle, spectacularly located on an island in the centre of the lake. There will be time at leisure to purchase lunch in Bled, and in the afternoon we shall visit a couple of local arable farms. Dinner will be included in the hotel tonight. Overnight: LJUBLJANA (B, D)
Wednesday 26th May There will be some free time at leisure this morning in the Lake Bled area, prior to transferring back to Zagreb airport for the afternoon flight back to the U.K. (B) End of Tour
