TV/Film Locations The burgeoning popularity of dramatisations on film and TV of famous literary works has provided the catalyst for tours based around the filming locations. Here are just a few. Chatsworth, Derbyshire Chatsworth is the location for the recent film production of Jane Austen's novel, Pride and Prejudice, released in September 2005, starring Keira Knightley and Donald Sutherland.. Many critics have often speculated that Chatsworth was the true inspiration for "Pemberley", Mr Darcy's family home. Alnwick Castle, Northumberland Family seat of the Dukes of Northumberland. Used for the exterior scenes in the Harry Potter movies such as the Quidditch match and the broomstick flying lessons Montacute House, Somerset A magnificent Elizabethan stone-built house, filled with historic treasures and surrounded by elegant gardens. Montacute featured in the award winning film Sense and Sensibility (1995) directed by Ang Lee. Lyme Regis, Dorset This unpsoilt and historic fishing port featured in the 1981 production of "The French Lieutenants Women", based on the novel of the same name by John Fowles, a resident of the town himself. Castle Howard Castle Howard is one of Britain's finest historic houses and is still home to the Howard family whose forebears conceived, designed, and built it over three centuries ago. Castle Howard famously featured in the 1981 TV adaption of Evelyn Waugh's novel "Brideshead Revisited". Lacock Abbey This former cloistered medieval Abbey was converted into a family home by the pioneer of modern photograpy, William Fox Talbot. The Abbey has been used in a number of film productions including "Pride & Prejudice", "Harry Potter", "Emma" and "Moll Flanders" Mapperton, West Dorset The house, Elizabethan in origin, enlarged in the late 1670s, is a marvellous example of a West Country manor that fits in with its surroundings and almost grows with them. The house has been used for a number of period dramas including the 1996 production of "Emma" starring Gwyneth Paltrow.
